3 year old granddaughter had to have a enema yesterday at the hosp. and this a.m.has some bloody mucus. is this normal? covid 1 yr ago constipated since. gastro put her on miralax takes it daily. when stop she cant poop. dr wont do scan. what to do?

The doctor knows what he is doing. If not happy get another opinion. Make sure the child eats healthy food with plenty of water and is active. children recover well and there are overwhelming chances that she too will. enemas can cause bloody mucus. For now stay with Miralax. I wish her well

This is a common issue in some kids and likely unrelated to the covid although it may have been a part. She likely has long term stool retention that has ballooned the large intestine to the point it does not empty as well. Rehab/recovery can take a year or more until the large intestine resumes its normal shape & strength. Work with a pedi GI or developmental pediatrician may help.
