If the bite site is itchy think of insects like gnats,chiggers,mosquitoes. If it's painful a spider or wasp bite is likely. I assume it wasn't a snake. See a physician as needed if spreading redness,increasing pain or swelling occurs. Apply cortisone type ointment for itching.
