A member asked:

My 6 month old daughter aspirated on bath water last night. she choked and then seemed okay. (played, ate etc) well, all night she coughed off and on (forcibly). this morning shes still coughing intermittently. should i get her checked out?

The cough is actually a good sign that she is trying to clear her lungs. The need to see a doctor to check may be if she seems to have difficulty breathing or if she has fever. It is of utmost importance to prevent future occurence by review why she may have had the incidence. I would observe if she continues to eat well and relatively herself apart from the cough that should get less.

A visit with your Pediatrician is recommended. I agree that if she is otherwise well that the condition may be mild. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and fever. A virtual consult with Healthtap is available.
