Infection: Leukocytes are white blood cells. When they are found in the urine, they are frequently indicative of an infection.

Needs evaluation: Leucocytes (inflammatory white cells) are not seen in normal urine which is usually sterile. Assuming the specimen was collected properly, the white cells are clues to infection somewhere in the urinary tract: bladder, accessory glands to the urethra, kidney) and can be serious if not treated. This should always be evaluated by your personal doctor.
