A member asked:

Had an ultrasound and there is one node that is 7mm in short axis with mild cortical thickening of up to 4mm. lymph node is peripherally hypoechoic with an echogenic center. pcp not really concerned. normal cbc. chronic tonsilitis. is this cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I think that your PCP should sit down with the interpreting radiologist & get his differential diagnosis of such lymphode findings. Are there other studies that would help or simple followup u/s only? What consultants would be helpful? The basic question here is whether it's a reactive lymph node or one consistent with malignancy.
