A member asked:

Had a chest ct scan, what does this all mean? anything to worry about? mild bilateral apical scarring. calcified right upper lobe granuloma (4, 94). calcified granulomas are also present (4, 172 and 129). punctate right lower lobe nodule (4, 229)?

Scarring is as a result of an old infection as is calcification. Punctate means tiny point like, nodule- solid area. Thias last thing is to be interpreted and treated in co-relation with the reason the CT was ordered- by the ordering doc Good luck. ALWAYS ask the ordering doc to explain the reports of all tests ordered- to your satisfaction.

The calcification of more than one nodule may be associated with a resolved or chronic infection. TB testing is recommended. If you have risk factors for lung cancer, such as smoking or family history, your overall risk is higher. More information would be helpful. A virtual consult with Healthtap is available . Watch for signs of shortness of breath, productive cough and fever.
