There is possibility of HIV transmission but it is very low. It is however best to be evaluated and be on post exposure prophylaxis if that happened.

Yes HIV is blood-borne and is passed thru blood usually. in the situation you describe the odds of contracting HIV are very low. Recommend testing through primary care physician or health department. they will also be able to give you specific advice regarding the time interval for testing, and if any medication is indicated post exposure to HIV.
