Hi can you have a couple of drinks while on nitrofurantoin?

If you like the idea of GI upset/nausea/headaches and other side effects the combination may provide it. Most recommend you avoid ethanol intake during and for up to 3 days after completion of this med.

Moderate consumption of alcohol my not affect the action of nitrofurantoin but excessive consumption can reduce its efficacy and also add to stomach upset , nausea , lack of energy and dehydration . So it might be better to complete the course and then start the alcohol intake .
