A member asked:

I need to revise my question it is dark green not black that my husband is having after his colon resection is that normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Dark green" color of liquid stools is synonymous with "black", and may represent "old blood" from the anastomosis site, but could also be from upper colon or even the small intestine bleeding. Check with your GI surgeon for testing and reevaluation if this continues.
