A member asked:

If a woman knows she doesnt want to have children and she is over 35 can she take progestin until menopause ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Progestin use for contraception is statistically effective, but not 100%. Ask your GYN physician about use of low dose oral bcp's (can use 3-5 packs in a row without the "7-day placebo" week, and this regimen may be continued even after one's 40's and for a time past menopause, to ease the transition , and with more certain contraception.
