My knee is swollen and red. i cannot straighten it all the way and my kneecap moves around when i bend my leg. it popped out of socket yesterday, and it hurts to put weight on it. what is wrong with my knee?

You must see an orthopedic surgeon ASAP for this acute problem. If you sustained no knee injury, dislocation of the patella occurs with weakening of tissues that support it. Swelling& redness of the knee is consistent with acute arthritis. Bacterial infection vs a rheumatoid flare would be the issue to be determined. In the meantime apply heat,take anti-inflammatory meds like advil or aleve.

I have had xrays on my left knee to see what is wrong with it due to it being swollen and hurting back in July. I was diagnosed with have patella in both knees. After physical therapy, my swelling went down - but now its back when I am moving a lot. It doesnt hurt but there is a lot of fluid on the knee and it seems to go away when I work out.
