A member asked:

Hi! i have epilepsy but am also interested in weight loss with phentermine 37mg dose for 30 days. i take levetiracetam(keppra) do you think these two medications combined would cause any harm? also is it okay to take phentermine with epilepsy?

Definite caution is advised if you are taking Keppra because Phentermine can decrease seizure threshold and so alter your seizure control.

Not the best for an epileptic, and would not advise the use of phentermine. Would presume this would also be the opinion of a prudent personal physician. If there is no other choice, would carefully monitor the serum levels of Keppra while taking weight loss medication. If you have a seizure, you will be prevented from driving, doing activities at heights, and using power equipment.
