Hi, my baby is 6 months and started solids about 4 weeks ago. all seemed fine. 2 weeks ago she got chicken pox. she has been constipated for about 2 weeks do you think there is any connection to the chicken pox and how can i help her?

Less fluid intake after she has started solid food is likely the main reason for constipation. Fever with chicken pox can worsen the low fluid status because of higher non-sensible water loss. You need to feed her more water through bottle.

There is probably no direct association two weeks after the infection. The spots should be fading and drying. Encourage formula, water mixed with a small amount of prune juice may improve the constipation. Water as a supplement after feeding is also recommended. Watch for signs of dehydration e.g. dry mouth and fewer wet diapers.
