With early pregnancy, cramping usually represents uterine growth to accommodate a growing gestation. If bleeding occurs, it may be due to inadequate progesterone production, so your OB physician may recommend treatment with progesterone. A good indicator of progressive growth is a predictable rise in HCG production.
