D deficiency is relatively common and can impair immunity and other body functions. When present it is easily treated with supplemental vitamin D. Some supplements are available in liquid or pill form. I don't consider the issue a worrisome one.

A healthy diet which includes sources of Vitamin D and Calcium is recommended. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with a number of conditions. If she is otherwise well, this test is usually a screening test.
