A member asked:

I have just had a random abdominal usg and there is this riedel lobe variant on the right side of my liver. liver is perfectly ok except this variant. is it concerning? what is a riedel lobe and is there a connection between consumption of alcohol?

This is considered a rare but normal variant of the liver. It occasionally confuses docs who may think the liver is enlarged by a hands on exam. It has otherwise no significance. Just consider yourself special.
