Thought i had fungus on big toe nail for last 5 years. i sent nail to a lab, it's staphylococcus capitis ngs: 65%& streptococcus sp ngs:6%. it also says + for gram stain, respiration:fan. tried a compound&a med dr. sells no improvement.how to treat?

Go talk to a dermatologist. They can rule out fungus. Bacteria hang out on skin surfaces, so this lab result may or may not be significant.

There is a paper recently published stating that toenails that are treated for fungus infection are also infected with bacteria. The answer from this study would be to also apply a topical antibiotic as well as anti fungal medication
