A member asked:

I've had some testicular pain for the past week but it has been mild, and i've experienced little to no swelling. however my right testicle feels slightly smaller and softer than usual. is it dead, and am i at risk if it is?

True testicular torsion is an emergency requiring immediate attention by a urologist. It also causes dramatically severe discomfort untreated, the testicle will be irreversible damage. While your symptoms don't suggest torsion, I still recommending being examined by your MD or a urologist in view of testicular discomfort for a week.

A 'dead' testis will not give you pain. One week is too short a time to make testicle smaller and softer. Pl see a Urologist for proper diagnosis and RX. In the meantime wear a good scrotal support, local heat and Ibuprofen if needed. Good luck.
