A member asked:

59yrs & diagnosed with polycystic ovaries in 20s. at 52 l had subtotal unilateral salpingo oophorectomy. past 3yrs l have developed lots of chin hair & groin pain/discomfort where ovary was left in situ. do you think symptoms are connected?

Age "59" is almost certainly post-menopausal, but continued stimulation of the ovaries by your pituitary will cause higher estrogen production from the remaining ovary, which can be converted to some hormones with mild androgen capacity, giving rise to facial hair. Oral low dose birth control pills may arrest this progression, and reduce menopausal symptoms as well.
