A member asked:

How likely is there to be a potential vaccine/cure for effectively treating crohns disease in the future?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not soon. Consider this what it is, an immune mediated reaction to one's own gut tissue triggered by some past event. The immune reaction flares and subsides over time. The variations can be reduced by some medications but consider this condition to be the close cousin of rheumatoid arthritis. That has been around for eons of time an effects more people than Crones but we haven't stopped it.
