A member asked:

I have perip. neuropathy in my legs/ feet due to an alcohol use disorder now in full remission for 5 years. i have not experienced any further progression as far as location or intensity. does all neuropathy progress (hands) if cause is removed?

If the underlying cause has been removed, the neuropathy should not spread to other areas. It would be prudent to consult a neurologist to ascertain if treatment may reverse some of the lesions in your legs. Wish you good health!

Glad to hear that your alcohol-induced neuropathy is in "full remission". Presume you are ingesting B vitamins, especially thiamine. There would be no expectation of your original problem to progress now, as long as you avoid alcohol intake. If there are residual stable symptoms, these would be essentially unaltered in the future.
