Unfortunately, the effect of most medications is temporary. Not a cure, but symptomatic relief. Once the meds are discontinued, the problem returns. The good news is that taking these medications for long periods helps to really normalize the imbalance and allows the patient to live a normal life. Just make sure you don't discontinue the meds without medical supervision.
