Can you have dry socket even if theres no visual signs of it? i have severe pain (2 wisdom teeth out on thursday) but the dentist said it doesnt look like dry socket at all because the clot is there & looks completely normal?

If the clot is present and no exposed bone than no dry socket. Pain and swelling is expected after surgical extractions of wisdom teeth. Trauma, pressure, possible grinding of bone, all can contribute to severe pain during extractions of wisdom teeth. Follow post op. directions to reduce pain and swelling and go back for follow up exam.
