Cavity: First rinse your mouth out with some warm water. This should help flush out any debris from the cavity and make it feel better. Gently brush as soon as you can. Avoid sweet and/or sticky foods. See you dentist as soon as possible.

See your dentist: Normally, toothaches don't happen suddenly. Usually there is a cavitiy that is not symptomatic, and then as it gets larger and larger, becomes symptomatic. Your dentist can find out by taking a radiograph (xray) of the area and determine the cause.
