Atenolol, a cardioselective long acting beta blocker can suppress palpitations caused by atrial & ventricular premature beats as well as other arrhythmias. It also slows heart rate and lowers blood pressure. In view of these properties ,I would be surprised if it causes palpitations unless it causes some heart beats to be dropped. I recommend your having an outpatient monitor to check your symptom
