If you have syphilis, FTA will remain positive forever and RPR will be negative after your are successfully treated. RPR is only a screening test and false positive test is relatively common. No, you do not have syphilis. Please practice safe sex for avoiding STDs.

You had a "biological false positive" RPR result; the negative FTA proves you do not have syphilis and never did. BFP is very common, occurring up to 2% of all positive RPR results, i.e. one in 50 persons. It has no health consideration, especially if it goes away on repeat testing. You should not be treated for syphilis; nothing is wrong.
