Not my field of expertise, but my understanding is that proponolol is a beta blocker, not an anti-anxiety med. Prescription medications should not be started or stopped without your Physician's approval. Heart pain mandates that younshould be evaluated by a Cardiologist, and the sooner the better.

I'm not sure it's your heart that hurts as coronary artery blockages would be the usual cause of cardiac discomfort usually brought on by exertion & relieved by rest. Propranolol can slow the heart rate & quiet palpitations as well as reduce symptoms of coronary blockages which is most unusual in your age group. I think your MD has to clarify the type & cause of your symptoms. Don't stop treatment
