A member asked:

Ear is blocked. told it was because of fluid behind eardrum. was given cefdinir and then later a shot of rocephin. the rocephin made my ear clear up for a day, now its clogged again. why wont my ear drain?

Any fluid behind your drum originated from mucus created by the walls of the middle ear space. To drain naturally, your Eustachian tube on that side must open enough to do so and the fluid be thin enough to drain. The fluid can persist for weeks after an infection. If it is too thick to drain, an ENT can remove it through a hole in the drum & place a tube to help it stay clear.
