Had a cusp on upper premolar that was cutting into tongue filed down and almost immediately began getting sensitivity in the tooth. will this go away or permanent? if it does not go away what can be done? thanks?

You had surgery done on the tooth. Give it time. It will heal. It should be getting a little better every day. If not, call your Dentist.
