Is an iron level of 192 too high? on august 9th i had labs done for some symptoms ive been having and it showed i had an iron level of 31, so i was advised to start taking ferrous sulfate 325mg. on august 31 labs were redone and showed it at 192?

Usually, for a female the upper limit of serum iron is 170 . Since it was low before you started the iron supplement , it might be good to retest the iron level after discontinuation of the iron supplement and high iron foods like sushi etc and let the physician follow up to make sure of the result , especially after such a short course of treatment .This will allow evaluation of the cause.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the elevated iron level is not a cause for concern. You may repeat it 3-6 months after completing your iron intake. Wish you good health!
