A member asked:

How long is a tetanus shot good for with a bad laceration? last booster was 2 years ago. the cut required staples. thank you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bad=5 and standard=10 years. This is a general statement. If a major wound was contaminated by soil and debris with cleaning delayed for any period of time the shortened 5-year rule would apply. For most simple cuts a longer time frame is used.
