A member asked:

Would it be so unusual to ask my oncologist surgeon who will do major open surgery on me for first time if there is a patient willing to talk about the intensive experience even though everyone's body acts differently to major side effects, etc. ?

You might address your question to the office staff or nurse. There are mutual support groups that may be present in your community for people newly diagnosed or undergoing treatment. It is against federal law for your doc to share the personal medical information including diagnosis or procedures with anyone without written consent.
