A member asked:

My 13 year old daughter has papilledema in left eye with blurry vision. no headaches or other symptioms. what are possible causes? will see an ophthalmologist on monday. what exams should i request? what should i ask the doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This could be caused by increased intracranial pressure occasionally seen at onset of puberty. The ophthalmologist will evaluate.her and advise you as to differential diagnosis &, order appropriate tests and/ or refer her the appropriate specialist, such as a neurologist or neuroopthalmologist, for further testing and proper treatment depending upon the assessment.
