A member asked:

4 months postpartum and currently breastfeeding. just diagnosed with 6 benign hepatic hemangiomas, the largest is 5.6 cm. i also have elevated alkaline phosphatase levels on last two liver panels. normal cbc levels, what could be causing the high alp?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

How high? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, elevated ALP can come from liver and/or bone. It would have helped had you provided the actual results. It is not due to hemangiomas. Wish you good health!
