A member asked:

I have a 15 cm chocolate cyst on my ovary. is it safe to wait 6-8 weeks for surgery? how much does this weigh?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A hemorrhagic cyst ("chocolate") of "15 cm" has sufficient weight that position changes of the patient can cause twisting of the cyst, which can occlude circulation to the ovary, requiring immediate surgery. Waiting "6-8 weeks" for surgery can increase the chances of the preceeding.
