A member asked:

I have had pain in my carotid artery more like a pulsating or throbbing discomfort for 1 or 2 minutes at a time. it occurs during any activity randomly. an ultrasound detected a mass of some sort pushing against the carotid artery. what could it be?

Your physician should sit down with the radiologist and get a differential diagnosis as to what the mass could be, what other imaging studies, if any, would shed more information about the mass & what kind of specialist should be consulted. A carotid body tumor is one possibility.
