Your mother probably has osteoarthritis in her knees, which is very common. The only way to know for sure is to get examined by a doctor. She should see an orthopedic doctor to diagnose and treat her. Sometimes, injections can be done to help with pain and sometimes knee replacements are recommended. Best of luck to both of you!
