Seems the lock- down and limited activities of the pandemic plus possible 'Comfort-Eating' might have contributed to the obese condition. Best to increase activities and develop a programmed exercise routine while paying attention to One's total caloric intake. Obesity is reversible.

If you were not obese before the pandemic and now you gained too much weight so you are obese and continue this condition, than you considered as having a chronic condition. If this condition lasts more than 3 months, than it could be a chronic disease .A chronic condition and chronic disease, diabetes, heart. asthma, cancer, lung and others can not be passed on to others. The disease is longer.

Word meanings sometimes vary with the observer. However, in general a disease is thought of as something you catch or develop through no fault of your own. There are exemptions to the rule for inherited genetic diseases. Chronic conditions general refer to either the long-term result of a disease, or one caused by life choices like overnutrition, poor physical conditioning, drinking, etc.
