A member asked:

I have normal dot floaters and string floaters, but recently i noticed long floaters that ripple across my vision and if i focus on them its a straight line across my eye. i notice this when i squint at a light source or the sky. is this common?

Floaters are very common and can take many forms. When you focus more on the floaters you may note different variations. New floaters, especially in diabetics, after trauma or in near sighted eyes can indicate significant pathology such as a retinal tear, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment or inflammation. If you see new floaters with flashes or a curtain, see an EyeMD ASAP.
