In the emergency room, a history, exam, EKG, and labs including troponin are used to rule out an acute myocardial infarction. If ischemia and abnormal cardiac wall function are suspected and the patient is stable, a stress test (treadmill, echo, nuclear) can be performed with a cardiologist
