A member asked:

Recently had flare up under arm of hidradenitis suppurativa. was painful started to drain. do i need to take any antibiotics?(i have taken them in past). i have been using my clyndamycin topical 1% pledgets. is that good enough?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Topical antibiotics are the usual first line treatment for this. Next comes oral antibiotics. A dermatologist with experience treating hydradenitis is best to consult in difficult cases and uses various other treatments if necessary.
