I had viral laryngitis 3wks ago.since then i have had on and off sore throat. no other symptoms but occ.ear pain that feels clogged on both sides. stupid i looked on google and throat cancer came up.could i have cancer? former smoker.quit 20 yrs ago?

Yes, if you do google search with the aforementioned symptoms, nasopharyngeal cancer will be listed as one of the causes. However, if you had an upper respiratory infection 3 weeks ago with predominant laryngitis manifested with hoarseness and now the hoarseness has resolved but you still have some symptoms of subacute upper airway inflammation. You will be alright soon so do not worry too much.
