Normal ratio is 1.2 or higher. If you do not have any underlying disease and you feel well, blood test should be repeated for ruling out laboratory error. If the result is the same, the cause of low serum albumin (hypoalbuminemia) needs to be investigated. The 2 most common problems which cause low albumin are kidney and liver disease. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your findings warrant that liver disease be excluded. If your doctor is not concerned, talk to a GI specialist. Wish you good health!
