Buprenorphine (Suboxone) is an excellent choice for treating opiate dependence, but it is crucial that it be used correctly, or one will lose faith in its usefulness. Taken too soon it puts you in withdrawal. It is imperative that you allow yourself to develop significant withdrawal symptoms BEFORE you take suboxone. Then the suboxone will stop the symptoms immediately without making you high.
