A member asked:

Is the vaginal bacteria the most important part of the strep b swab test? can there be a way that this test can be done incorrectly?

Yes: The test done for group b strep is a test to isolate vaginal or rectal colonization. Vaginal and rectal collection is recommended for most accurate results. Of course, it is important to not cause cross contamination by transferring bacteria from the rectum to the vagina.
