Are you completely able to rule out a recent sprain, overuse or other injury? Other possibilities include prepatella tendinitis, monoarticular arthritis, Osgood-Schlatter disease,or oseteochondritis dessicans. If symptoms continue see your physician, rheumatologist or an orthopedic specialist for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care. In the meantime apply alternating heat&cold,take advil.

If this knee pain develops after a fall or sport accident, you probably have ACL tear (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) tear. You should be evaluated by an orthopedist.
