Get a referral for a second opinion for guidance on surgical approach to cervical vertebrae herniation. Epidural steroid injections usually last for pain relief for 2-3 months.

Transforaminal epidural steroid injections are used diagnostically and briefly therapeutically, but do not last. Decision for neck surgery is based upon progressive risk to spinal cord, progressive muscular weakness and atrophy, unstable spine, progressive unremitting and immobilizing pain, bladder & bowel dysfunction, and potential for future neurological deterioration.
