You are over reading info you have found. I am aware of no site that calls this "very serious" risk. True that many or most sites do not distinguish levels of risk, so it can seem oral and vaginal or anal sex are equal risk, for example. Do not read such lists and assume that just because an activity is listed it is highly risky. Your doc was wise to advise you stop searching online about it.

HIV and STD'S are virus and infection diseases that are found in bodily fluids. Saliva of an infected person contains these diseases, and if one or both partners have bleeding gums or open sores in mouth than transmission is possible. Don't bother to look up info. on sex, just practice safe sex and good oral hygiene.

A 10 minute Google search is no match for a gum specialist Periodontist's 15,000 hours of training and years of experience. Healthy gums do not bleed, only infected gums. Infected gums have been linked to stroke, cardiac damage, kidney damage, etc. Would suggest that you see 2 specialists. See Periodontist to control gum infection. See Urologist to discuss safe sex.
