A member asked:

I had my tubes tied almost 9 years ago and im 12 days late for my period. if test says negative what could be the cause of this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

While "tubal ligation" is usually a dependable "contraceptive" method, tubal "recanalization" is reported occasionally. However, delays in ovulation can occur secondary to stress (emotional, work, etc), which will delay onset of menstruation. If symptoms of pregnancy occur, obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.
