First the diagnosis should be made by a Urologist. The right method is to find cause and treat it. In the meantime take plenty of water avoid spicy and acidic food, and try OTC Pyridium (azo). Recovery time depends on the cause. Anti inflammotories might help with pain. Yes I have treated hundreds- am a Urologist Dont listen to 'people' Good l;uck

Confusing terminology. Non-infectious urethritis is rare and not a commonly recognized condition. Do you mean nongonococcal urethritis (NGU)? Presumably negative STI testing, right? (I have treated hundreds of such patients.) It's still an STI and usually responds to antibiotics; doxycycline is best. Mycoplasma genitalium is a difficult to treat cause. Or maybe prostatitis?
